I Saw a Bee Yesterday

I saw a bee yesterday,

And he asked me if I knew,

Where all the flowers had gone,

As there were none where they once grew,

I turned to him and said, “I fear,

There are no more flowers here,

We sprayed them all with Paraquat,

So we could build a parking lot.”

I saw a robin yesterday,

And she asked me if I knew,

Where all the trees had gone,

As there were none where they once grew,

I turned to her and said, “I fear,

There are no more trees around here,

We chopped them down the other day,

So we could build a motorway.”

I saw a seagull yesterday,

And he asked me if I knew,

Where all the fish had gone,

As there were none where they once grew,

I turned to him and said, “I fear,

There are no more fish around here,

We poured our poisons down the drain,

To save ourselves financial pain.”

I haven’t seen a gull today,

Or a robin, or a bee,

I fear they’ve now all gone away,

But we’ll have to wait and see.
